Small Photo Booth

I setup a small photo booth for brides and friends at my booth during the bridal show. Over all the people I hand out a brochure to, little over a handful participated. I have to admit, I was still taking the photos. (more…)

Day 70 – Wampus Cats Father/Son Dinner

I was ask to photograph a Father/Son Dinner a few weeks ago. They wanted photos of the father and son and then a few during the banquet. I was so excited. When I arrived, I started setting up. The mom’s had already put together a backdrop and decoration for the pictures. Apparently, at the beginning of the year the football team went on a base and was photograph on a tank. How cool is that! So, their slogan has been “Welcome to the Jungle”. Well, after a few test shots with some moms (thank you for being so helpful), I was ready for the action. Slowly, the father and sons started arriving. I was able to posed them and wait for the next father and son (I was thinking, this is going to be a breeze). Well, at some point they all arrived at the same time. My flashes couldn’t keep up. But everyone was great waiting for the photographer. After taking a several shots, I realized that my tests shot with moms who fit perfectly in the background, the father and sons did not. I was going to have to do some digital darkroom to get these images looking good. Below is the final output. Enjoy!

Sweet 16

Earlier this month, I was honored to take photos and video for young woman turning 16. I had a blast. It was tricky keeping up with a camera and video but I was able to. I wanted to share photos that I took that evening. The video will be coming soon.

They went all out for her birthday. It was done very much like a wedding. Though, instead of white gown, she had beautiful pink one. During the ceremony, it very serious hard to capture any smiles. The little ones are just adorable. Beware, lots of pictures :) .

Rosa, Happy Birthday!!

Oink Oink and a cough cough here

How is everyone out in the internet world? I know you must be missing my blog posts. Not only have I been busy with some events or weddings for the first three Saturdays of August, but I have been sick too. Let’s see… First, after the first event I got Swine flu. Yep, sure enough. Though, I have to admit it felt just like regular flu. Myself and my whole family went on tamiflu (I think that is the right spelling). I got better and symptom free for the next event. After the event, I felt even better and I started getting back into the swing of things with my day job. I go and shoot my third event and then felt all stuffed up. That Sunday was not a good day for me. On Monday, the doctor told me I had a sinus infection. I am actually starting to feel better each day.

This leads me to some posts I want mention. Some of you might have already seen the post on Zarias’ blog. But if you haven’t check it out here and here. The posts are about how we all get down and loose some of those creative juices. But it is good to get with others in the photography community and discuss what is going on. Zarias started the whole thing with this Transform video earlier this year (Very good check it out). After that video he has had tons of email. Anyway, in regards to the first post, I am standing on one foot on the dock and the other foot in the boat. Plus, my family is the dock waiting to get in the boat with me. I am trying to figure out how to get us all in the boat together and move forward. Whew!

The other post that has some awesome tips to get those juices flowing is from Chase JarvisBlog. He posted “9 Things To Do When You’re Feeling Stale“. Now I am not sure if he is following Zarias but what great timing and some excellent tips.

Well, like I said before I had three different events. I hope to put up some stuff up real soon. In the mean time here is one image from one of the events.

APPA Print Competition

I am really excited about this year’s print competition. It is because I am entering four prints. They should arrive on Thursday. I went to last year’s and it was fun to see what the judges look for and the reaction from the photographers afterwards. The print competition usually takes most of the day. Each print needs to be 16×20 mounted on foam or gator board. Of course this is for first entries and those that haven’t receive all the necessary awards. If someone has, they can enter any size they want. But you have start somewhere.

If you can’t make it to this years APPA convention, then you should at least attend the Dennis Reggie session on Monday evening (Check Capture09 for more details and use this link to register). I know he is part of theExplorer’s of Light, but have never heard him speak. I am looking forward to it. So, if you are looking to get into photography or have been in it some time, come join us.

I bet you are ready to see some images. They are a little dark for the competition. Let me know what you think.

If you see me at the convention, come on over and say hello.

Harris’ 25th Anniversary

Happy 25th Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Harris! What an event out at the Agora Center! The decorations and food were done well. Family and friends came out to celebrate their on going commitment to God and each other. It was beautiful.

I met Mr. Harris out at the Softball fields. We had plans for doing some other pictures and briefly talked about an anniversary. I had gone on vacation and touched base with him again. We talked more about an anniversary over the phone. When I got back in town, we met to discuss more about the event. It is a good thing we met, I had no idea that I was meeting for their anniversary :) .

I arrived early in order to get some detail shots. As friends and family arrived, they greeted each other with lots of wonderful hugs. I got to see a brief glimpse of heaven.

Here are some of my favorites.

The party wasn’t a surprise or anything but you could tell that they were.

Oh my, the woman on the right was just to funny. She just loved getting her picture taken. Always had a beautiful smile.

She was so adorable. She knew when I was taking a picture of her. No fooling her. :)
