Petti Jean Wedding
I had the privilege to be a second shooter for a wedding on Petti Jean at an Episcopal camp. The scenery was just gorgeous. It was also a great day to shoot since it wasn’t at all hot. Check out these fantastic images from that day.

Tiffany and Adam Sneak Peek
I had the privilege to video record their wedding on the 1st of August. The wedding was so much fun. Check out some of the highlights below.

Second Shooter
Nope, I wasn’t part of any bank robbery or heist, but I had the privilege to be the second photographer for Phofab (local photographer Josh Mize) at a wedding. He has been in business a little longer than I have and you can tell that he loves what he does. Check out his site, he has some great images in his portfolio. I really enjoyed working with another photographer. It gave me another view of how someone else works with a wedding. We had lots of fun.
The wedding happen the same day I had the Anniversary session. It was a busy day but I was able to take a nap before I did the Anniversary. Well, you might be asking why it took so long to get pictures out (or maybe not). Normally, when you shoot an outside wedding, it is good to have it done early in the morning (not really the norm) or later in evening like around 4pm until sunset. From 10am til 3pm, the sun is at it’s highest point in the sky (especially during the summer time). The wedding was right at noon and pictures with bride, groom, party, and family happen around 12:45pm. No problem, there is gazebo we can get under. Well, the background wasn’t too desirable under the gazebo. I brought stands and we had flashes and being the smart photographers we are, we left them in our bag (Oh man
). So, the post process has been a process, to say the least, but I believe we have some great images. Enjoy!

Best of 2008
I went back through the photos from the time I got my camera, starting the new business, and really getting my feet wet. First, I want to thank those that chose me for taking a chance with the new kid on the block. I know there are other awesome photographers in the area. Thank You!! Thank you for choosing Reflections by the Hill. As my business grows, I look forward to meeting others that will take a chance with me. Though, looking through these past photos, I believe their chances will be awesome. Check out these and then check out my gallery. Let me know what your favorite photo is.
I believe these are all the best. But the first time I went through them there was 50 images. I thought 20 was a bit more reasonable.
Wedding photos take to long? Really?
I did my first wedding in late October. It was a blast. But I do have to admit, it did take me longer than I expected to get the pictures done in post-process. I have read now two other blogs about this. I think I took close to 700 images that day. After a week and half of post-processing (besides the other jobs I have), I put up the pictures for the client (Around 400 images). It took them a while maybe week and half to two weeks before they made the order (for different circumstances we had to do it snail mail so it actually was three weeks). Once I receive the order, it will takes another three weeks. I do this so that I can inspect each print and if needed I can do a re-order. Only quality prints go to my clients. So, wedding clients most likely will not get prints in their hands for almost 8 weeks. Wow! When you say 8 weeks it sounds so long. Well, if my brief note on it was not convincing (since it was my first), check out these other post: Julie Jones – Wedding Photos|why do they take so long? and Anne Ruthmann – Why do Wedding Photos Take So Long?
Anne Ruthmann goes into great detail. At this point in my photography business, my clients are far and few between. “So, what’s the deal then Calvin?” Well, I have a day job and have taken on a consulting job in the evenings. I might not be busy with clients but I am very busy nether-the-less. But all my photography clients are very important and I treat the work as high priority – as with any job I might be doing – Getting it done!
